In one week my family and I will be travelling to Berlin, Germany. I love this spacious city full of history, architecture and nice spots to eat and drink. Besides that, it is also a nice city to visit with small children. Trolleys can be used easily, although this year both our children take their scooter with them. That will be fun! And there is always a nice public playground within a few hundred meters from the place where you stay. Look for it and you will find one.

I wondered if that is also the case in Delft. The answer is: No. But I found a public playground where you can spend from one hour ‘till a whole afternoon with children from 1 up to 13 years old.

The playground is situated in the ‘bomenwijk’ (trees quarter) of Delft. You can see the Nieuwe Kerk (new church) from the playground. I think it is about 20 minutes’ walk from the Market square in the city center. If you stay at the Hampshire hotelcenter, it is only a 2 minutes’ walk.

The playground consists of 2 parts, one part for children with the age 1-8, the other part 8-…(13?). The playground seems to be old, but the playing equipment is very well looked after or new. There is also a sandpit and there are  little bikes to ride on.

It is comfortable for the parents too. If you bring a blanket you can have a picnic in the grass, there are tables to sit at and you can buy some drinks and food at the cantine. It is very cheap. If you prefer the picnic with your own food, you can do some shopping at the Plus supermarket next to the playground.

A place to keep in mind…
