The Doelentuin (Doelen garden) is a garden behind my favorite Doelenplein (Doelensquare). Unlike the Doelenplein, nothing happens in the Doelengarden. That is so nice about it.
There are public chairs to sit on, they are arranged like a fairy ring and that is the only thing happening there. You can walk from the Doelenplein to the garden via a large underpass of the Poortgebouw, an apartment building designed by Fons Verheijen. It is a residential area and if you take walk around the garden, you will see some nice new Dutch architecture, designed under the supervision of Verheijen.
You can have a pick nick, read a book and let your children play. Take a football with you. I have mine climbing the trees out there. I am not sure that it is allowed, but as no one ever told me not to… 🙂
