Delft is situated in the most lively part of the Netherlands, in the province of South Holland (Zuid Holland) It is part of the Randstad. The Randstad is a conurbation in the Netherlands. It consists of the four largest Dutch cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht and the surrounding areas.
Delft is situated very close to The Hague and Rotterdam. So in no-time you visit these cities. But that is not the only interesting part about Delft’s location in Holland. In only 20 minutes from Market square you can explore the Dutch countryside with meadows and farms at the East of Delft in villages like Delft-Gauw or Oude Leede.
In half an hour you are at the sea side of Scheveningen or Kijkduin if you travel West.
The Westland is also interesting to explore. That is a region full of horticulture in glasshouses (greenhouses). The best export tomatoes and other vegetables and flowers of Holland are grown there.
So keep Delft as a base for your visit in Holland. If you’ve seen Delft and it’s surroundings, you’ve seen the Netherlands 😉
